Arthro3d organizes medical workshop for Orthopedic Surgeons across India

The use of mixed reality and HoloLens 2 technology in joint replacement surgery will be a game-changer

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India]: The city of Ahmedabad witnessed the biggest medical extravaganza of the year on 22nd March 2023, in the field of joint replacement surgeries of Knee, hip and shoulder. The event was organised by Arthro3d, innovator of the 3D technology (Kne3wiz MR) for the first time in India along with implants manufacturer company, Evolutis. The orthopaedic surgeons from all parts of country gathered and received the ‘hands on’ training on the latest technology in performing joint replacement surgeries using the 3D technology.

Joint replacements are very common nowadays and it comes with a promise of providing a better quality of life to the patients after surgery. Every year lacs of patients gets treated in this country by getting the benefit with the help of artificial knee, hip or shoulder implants and replace their older joints by surgery, thereby increasing their mobility, and at the same time get rid of joint pains.  “Kne3wiz MR” is the latest technology in this field which given the ultimate promise to the Hip, Knee and shoulder replacement surgeries with the highest degree of precision to the surgeons. The technology converts the Surgeon into a Robot and guides him will all necessary information required for carrying out the operation. The key word in this case is the planning of the surgery, which is perfect and hence it increases better quality outcome for the patients.

The process of Kne3wiz MR Technology starts from a simple CT scan of the patient’s joint which is then converted into a 3D model and the surgical planning is done by the surgeon much before the actual surgery day. Kne3wiz MR also helps the surgeon to see the entire surgery planning in front of his eyes using the Hololens 2(a wearable device) which is wore by the surgeon during the surgery. This acts as a guide to the surgeon in taking the bone cuts and place the implant in the correct position. This latest technology will benefit the Surgeons as well as the patients and impact the overall well-being.

Two senior-most orthopaedic surgeons, Dr Manish Shah (Chairman of Shah Hospitals, Ahmedabad) and Prof Thomas Gregory (shoulder replacement surgeon from France) also shared their experiences and showcased the benefits of the 3D technology in various type of surgeries.

The workshop was attended by more than 150 Surgeons across India and most of them expressed their gratitude towards the learning they have received with the hand on surgical approach.
